The iconic Positano hotel will expand beyond its hillside address this April with Le Sirenuse Mare – a design-led beach club, restaurant and bar in Marina di Cantone

Le Sirenuse, one of the Amalfi Coast’s most recognisable luxury hotels, has opened a new beach club, marking a significant expansion for the Positano icon as it celebrates its 75th anniversary.

Named Le Sirenuse Mare, the new venue is located in Marina di Cantone, the fishing village and beach enclave often referred to as Nerano, around 25 minutes by boat or 50 minutes by road from Positano.

Spread across 3,350 square metres, the project has been five years in the making and will bring the hotel’s signature world of design, art, food and fashion to a new beachfront setting that’s considered one of the coast’s more low-key corners.

Design

Rather than a simple beach extension, Le Sirenuse Mare has been conceived as a fully realised destination in its own right.

Designed by Architetti Artigiani Anonimi, the beach club features a series of terraces, with local stone walls, handmade terracotta and ceramic tiles, chestnut-wood pergolas and traditional cannucciata sunshades all drawing on the vernacular architecture of the Amalfi Coast.

The seafront area includes 36 sunbeds, five double cabanas, two jetties and an upper lounge with Rose’s Bar, while further uphill sits the restaurant and bar terrace beneath Aleppo pines and landscaped Mediterranean planting.

Dining

At the centre of the culinary offering is the 180-seat Le Sirenuse Mare Restaurant, open daily for lunch and rooted in Mediterranean and Campanian cooking. The kitchen is led by chef Francesco De Simone, who grew up nearby and has built the menu around southern Italian classics, seafood and seasonal produce.

There are also two bars – the more casual, sea-facing Rose’s Bar and the upper-level Dolce Far Niente Bar, serving granitas, gelati and classic Italian desserts.

Art and retail

As with the hotel, art plays a central role at Le Sirenuse Mare. Works by Giuseppe Ducrot, Rose Wylie, Bosco Sodi and Alba Clemente are integrated throughout the beach club, alongside pieces by Amalfi Coast artisans and ceramicists.

The opening also brings a new outpost for Emporio Sirenuse, the fashion and lifestyle label founded by Carla Sersale.

The 50-square-metre store will be the brand’s first flagship outside Positano, carrying its own collections as well as a curated mix of complementary designers and makers.

Access

Le Sirenuse Mare will operate from April to October, with daily opening hours from 10am until sunset and lunch served from 12pm to 5pm. A fast boat shuttle will connect hotel guests between Positano’s main beach and Marina di Cantone.
