The newly opened Fairmont Tokyo brings 217 rooms, expansive skyline views, seven dining venues and a wellness centre to the top floors of the Blue Front Shibaura development in central Tokyo

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has opened its first property in Japan, with the launch of Fairmont Tokyo in the Shibaura district.

Occupying the top floors of a newly developed high-rise, the 217-room hotel boasts direct views over Tokyo Tower and the bay and brings the Accor-owned brand into one of the world’s most competitive hospitality markets.

Positioned between Tokyo Bay and the business districts of Tokyo and Shinagawa, the hotel’s position in Shibaura – once an Edo-period fishing village and now a mix of high-rise living and quiet canal-side paths – is a short drive from Haneda Airport and within easy reach of the city’s central train stations.

“We aim to be a meeting point for locals and travellers – a hotel that feels connected to Tokyo but set slightly apart,” stated General Manager Karan Singh.

Rooms

The new hotel features guest rooms and suites spanning levels 36 to 42 of the tower – each ranging from 52 to 278 square metres.

All offer floor-to-ceiling windows, with unobstructed views of the city skyline or water. Interiors, by BAR Studio, reference traditional Japanese architecture in subtle ways – from the layered textures to the engawa-inspired seating areas that transition between indoors and out.

Larger suites feature separate lounge areas, curated art and bespoke furniture. Guests booking Fairmont Gold rooms receive additional services including private check-in and lounge access.

Dining

The hotel’s seven restaurants and bars are designed to reflect the breadth of Tokyo’s dining culture.

Kiln & Tonic serves wood-fired coastal dishes on the 35th floor, with a terrace overlooking Tokyo Tower.

Vue Mer combines French and Japanese café culture with bay views and a focus on afternoon tea.

Driftwood offers a modern take on Yoshoku dining, while Migiwa and Totsuji reinterpret sushi and teppanyaki respectively.

Yoi to Yoi serves elevated Japanese bar food with highballs, and Off Record recreates the atmosphere of a Tokyo listening bar, with vinyl and a focused cocktail list.

Wellness

Fairmont Tokyo’s wellness spaces are located on the same floor as the lobby and main dining venues, with floor-to-ceiling windows across the entire level, heroing the city skyline.

Facilities include a 20-metre indoor infinity pool, Technogym-equipped fitness centre, saunas and two movement studios, with treatments at the Fairmont Spa using local ingredients alongside Fairmont’s signature oils.

Fairmont Tokyo joins a growing regional portfolio that includes hotels in Singapore, Jakarta, Makati and Seoul. Future Fairmont openings are planned in HanoiBangkok and New Orleans, among others. fairmont.com
